Studies on the Male Sterility of Allium Fisturosum L .

Abstract
Present experiment was attempted in order to make clear the genetical and histological mechanisms of male-sterile Welsh onion, the results of which are summarized as follows:
1) The segregation ratio of MS indicates that in some instances the observed value gives the expected ratio, while some of the other results do not correspond to the expected value, regardless of the assumption of cytoplasm.
2) No difference on the changes of tapetal tissue was detected between the sterile and fertile lines through the stakes of anther development.
3) At pre-or post-meiotic stages, abnormal microspore mother cells or microspores are observed in the male-sterile individuals.
